IMPORTANT 100-MILE AND 50-MILE COURSE CHANGES AND NOTES
We want to be sure you get these details covered before you arrive:
- Leg 4 Change – 100-mile and 50-mile Runners (including Relay)
- This was announced two weeks ago, but we want to be sure it is communicated. We have to move TA4 (end of leg 4). It is currently showing on the updated GPX files and Google Map on the website: https://www.sinistersports.ca/sinister7/course
- Due to land-use changes, we have struggled to find a permanent home for TA4, and we have to make due with an awkward location for this year – we hope to have a better location in 2027 when we do our next big course revision *foreboding background music*
- Leg 6 change
- We have made a small modification to Leg 6 in the CP6b area
- The CP is moving southwest to Atlas Road so that it is easier to bring in supplies and medical support if needed
- For anyone who raced Sinister 7 in the early days, it was where the old TA was at the end of Leg 5 – you leave the pipeline trail and make your way to the clearing, then back up to the pipeline trail by a straight route to the southeast
- The course is updated online and you can see it here: https://www.sinistersports.ca/sinister7/course
- 50-Mile Soloists – New Start Area
- To respond to more of those land-use changes, we are moving the Start of the 50-miler to York Creek Staging Area: https://www.sinistersports.ca/sinister7/course
- You can either drive to the Start, or take the shuttle bus: https://www.sinistersports.ca/sinister7/racer_information_package#_Toc717
- This area has recently been logged and Public Lands has increased the size of the parking area, making it a great location to start the 50-miler
- You are welcome to park here as long as needed
TA1 / LEG 2 BUS CANCELLATION
Normally we would be reminding people to take the bus to TA1 if they are running Leg 2, but unexpectedly our transportation provider had decided to not work at the race this year. We have worked with them for several years, so it came as a real surprise. We have tried to find other transportation companies in the area that could match their capacity, but it just isn't working out. Note:
- This means Leg 2 runners should drive to TA1 (directions here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1unxwGzyccPEfIR8EWqF8o-Ni4gLnsrfmNQwXQPQqW4w/edit?usp=sharing )
- Park on the road south of the TA, not in or in front of the staging area as we need clear space to move equipment in and out
- This does not affect the route from the Sports Complex to the start of the 100-miler in Blairmore – we are working on options for the 50-miler start as well
Sorry for any inconvenience; we are rolling with this unexpected change the best we can.
CAMPING CHANGES
For those who are planning to use the dry campground outside of Blairmore, we have a few changes here as well. We were informed late last week that part of the area is no longer available due to new restrictions from a corporate landowner. We already had the Pass Powderkeg Ski Area parking lot as a backup location, and we are going to be using it more than expected. The PPK lot has mostly RV-friendly sites, and a few random tenting spots. We are going to be reaching out to a number of the registered campers to try and divert them to this site early, then we will email a confirmation as to which site everyone should use. PPK has amazing views of the valley, so you should be happy if you are picked to go there. Next year we ask people to pick in advance.

VOLUNTEERS MAKE LIFE BETTER!
We still need a few more spots filled, so remind family and friends We make the experience fun for them too, and we have great swag, just for volunteers. We have great swag lined up - anyone who volunteers out on the racecourse gets a soft flask and custom quick-dry towel, which are in addition to the meal, shirt and other perks.
Sign them up here! https://www.sinistersports.ca/sinister7/volunteer

See you soon!
Kindest regards,
Brian Gallant
