My Story…
Mama Said Run is back for year two!
Andrew and I are taking on the Around the Bay 15K together once again, and this year means even more than the last. I was finally cleared to start training on March 3, making this run both harder and far more meaningful for me. I feel excited, scared, and incredibly grateful all at the same time.
I’m so lucky to have the most amazing running partner by my side. Andrew, thank you for pushing me, believing in me, and for somehow convincing me that adding an extra 5 km this year was a good idea! We’ve got this, though I’ll do my best to keep up with you.
This past year, the Mackenzie clan has relied on hospital services more than ever, and we truly can’t express how thankful we are. The care, compassion, and support we received from the doctors and nurses meant the world to us. Because of them, we are able to lace up our shoes and take on this challenge together.
Thank you to everyone who supported us last year, and thank you in advance to those who choose to support us again. Every donation helps support an incredible cause that touches so many lives, including ours.

This year I’m taking on the Around the Bay Road Race and raising funds for St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. St. Joe’s is the heart of Hamilton — nearly everyone I know has been touched by the exceptional care provided here.
Funds raised through Around the Bay will buy much‑needed healthcare equipment at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. It may seem surprising that items like ultrasound machines, wheelchairs, and other essential devices aren’t covered by provincial operating dollars. The truth is nearly every piece of equipment used in the Hospital is funded by donations from people like you and events like the Bay Race.
Please know that the money you help me raise has a real, immediate impact on the lives of patients at St. Joe’s. Your support buys the tools clinicians use every day to diagnose, treat, and comfort our neighbours.
