Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn

Join us in celebrating 25 years of the Balmoral Burn 2026.

While walking his dog one day, Phil Kearns AM, came up with the idea of running up Mosman's Awaba St as a way to raise funds to say thank you to the Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH). Phil wanted to give back to the people that saved the lives of his children, so he came up with the idea of running up Awaba Street's 420-metre incline to raise money for Royal North Shore Hospital.

What began as a crazy idea, running up Awaba Street to raise $10,000 to paint the children’s ward at Royal North Shore Hospital became something far bigger than anyone imagined.

So it returned the next year. And the next. And the next.

Now, 25 years on, the Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn has raised more than $36.5 million to help sick kids in hospital, helping to provide urgently needed and often lifesaving medical equipment to hospitals nationwide and changing thousands of young lives across Australia.

And we’re not done yet.
