My Story…
Like so many of us, I've had my ups and downs with mental health. One thing that consistently helps me feel like the best version of myself is exercise - and running just happens to be my favourite way to get there. So, signing up for the Edmonton Marathon - my first marathon - felt like a good challenge... and pairing it with fundraising for mental health just made sense!
I'm supporting the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), which does incredible work providing support and resources for people who might be struggling or feeling alone. I'm lucky to have a strong support system in my friends and family. They help keep me grounded and moving forward. Not everyone has that, and that's where CMHA makes a difference.
When I first started running I did it for myself, but I quickly realized how much everyone in the running community feeds off of positive energy and we can all help each other to reach our goals - whatever they may be. Now I've decided to start running to give back to that community. So, I'll be putting in the miles (and probably questioning my life choices a few times along the way), and you can help by donating money, raising awareness, or helping someone who you know is struggling.
