My Story…
Hi, My name is Akira, I am 11 years old and on February 8, 2026 I will be running 5 km in my first ever running event.
I’m running for the quiet kids who are watching. I'm running for the loud ones who think violence is strength. I'm running for young people who haven't got the right role models in their lives.
That’s why I’m running 5km in the Carlton Run for Respect.
The Carlton Respects program is already changing lives in schools across Victoria. With funding from the generosity and kindness of people with strong faith just like you, it can reach even more students before patterns become hurtful actions that can't be undone.
Every act of generosity fuels more conversations, more turning points, and more children choosing respect for themselves and each other over violence.
That means safer future homes for women and children. I don't need support for my run, but what it stands for.
Let’s stop violence before it starts. One conversation at a time...and this February for me, it will be with one foot after the other. My goal is $1 raised for every metre I run to really give meaning to every step I take.
Thanks for your support and making the difference.
Akira.
