Mark your calendars! The 2026 Run for Recovery takes place on Friday, June 12, at Westwood Lake in Nanaimo.
This annual event brings our community together in support of individuals and families impacted by addiction and mental health challenges. It’s a powerful evening of movement, connection, and compassion, and is a reminder that recovery is possible.
Whether you choose to run, walk, sponsor, donate, volunteer, or cheer from the sidelines, your involvement helps create real change.
WHY WE RUN
This year’s Run for Recovery is raising funds for New Start Foundation for Addiction and Mental Health.
New Start Foundation focuses on ensuring timely access to life‑changing treatment for people who are ready to recover but are blocked by financial barriers. The Foundation supports an underserved middle group — individuals who may have housing, family or social support, workforce attachment, or employable skills, yet cannot afford private care and cannot wait for public services.
By removing cost as a barrier, New Start Foundation provides a hand‑up when it matters most.
Funds raised through this year’s Run for Recovery will be used to provide treatment grants at EHN Edgewood Nanaimo, helping close the gap between urgent need and immediate care.
Through its partnership with EHN Canada, New Start Foundation also benefits from a 15% contribution back from treatment programs, amplifying the impact of every dollar raised. Your support helps move us closer to a future where access to quality mental health and addiction treatment is a right, not a privilege.
ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY SUPPORT
In addition to fundraising, we will be collecting personal care items for individuals receiving care at EHN Edgewood Nanaimo.
Items such as shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, and other basic necessities make a meaningful difference for those entering treatment.
