Know Before You Go: Safety
Run Minnesota is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission of making running accessible to everyone. We do this through our events like Everybody's Irish and follow all applicable laws to deliver safe, inclusive running events. Run Minnesota also sees race day as a community celebration that can't exist without everyone's focus on safety.
Please keep in mind that this event takes place on land owned by the City of Minneapolis and is not exclusively controlled by the organizers. This means that conditions can change quickly due to weather, course surfaces, crowds, traffic flow, emergency activity, and any other unexpected public use.
Here’s how to have your best (and safest) day:
Be prepared for conditions: March can bring cold, wind, rain, or snow. Dress for the forecast, and choose footwear with good traction in case of wet or icy patches.
Stay aware on course: Watch for uneven pavement, puddles, ice, tight turns, and congestion. Leave space when passing.
Follow directions immediately: Please listen to and comply with instructions from race staff, volunteers, medical personnel, and public safety officials. This includes directions related to rerouting, pausing, stopping, or leaving an area if needed.
Respect public space: Be courteous to other park/trail users and neighbors and follow applicable laws.
If something feels unsafe, step away: If you encounter a situation that feels unsafe—whether related to weather, crowd conditions, or other public activity—slow down, move to a safe area, and ask the nearest volunteer for guidance. Run Minnesota relies on every participant, volunteer, and attendee to support their own safety at all times.
Event adjustments for safety: For participant safety, the organizers may modify the course, start/finish operations, timing procedures, or schedule, or may delay, pause, shorten, stop, or cancel the event if conditions require.
Optional Insurance: Run Minnesota offers all participants the option to purchase event insurance when they register. As such, we do not offer refunds for any reason and strongly encourage everyone to consider the appropriate coverage.
We’re excited to celebrate with you—thanks for doing your part to keep the day safe for participants, volunteers, spectators, and the broader community.
