DOWNHILL START for MARATHON & DOWNHILL HALF MARATHON COURSE!
Marathon & Half Marathon participants will be shuttled from the high school to the start line at the Dao House Sunday morning. Shuttle times will be selected during registration.
All races finish on the Estes Park High School track. Finisher medals for ALL events! Along with a performance race shirt (gender sizing)!
“SUNRISE ACHIEVERS”- You love to complete destination marathons but need a little more time. We offer an extra early start as a group and will have a Pacer join you to help you reach your finish goal of 6.5 hours. All Sunrise Achievers MUST be on the first bus departing the Estes Park High School at 4AM. A unique “Sunrise Achiever” race shirt will be given for these participants. THIS IS the early start for marathon walkers.
SHINING TWIN CHALLENGE- race the Longs Peak 5 Mile and the Estes Park Half Marathon and receive a special finisher medal! Please register for each event individually.

On Saturday June 20th, kids run in groups by age starting at 10:30AM on the Estes Park High School track. The High School Track team leads this portion of the event. Distances vary from 50m for 4 & 5 year olds to 800m for 11-12 year olds.

- 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. - All Races Packet Pickup (Estes Park High School Commons)
- 8:00 a.m. - Longs Peak 5 Miler Start (North of the High School building and east of The Observatory)
- 9:00 a.m. - Kids Bike Obstacle Course, games and face painting! (Estes Park Track & Field - registration/check-in on the track)
- 9:30 a.m. - Longs Peak 5 Miler Awards Announced
- 10:30 a.m. - Kids Fun Run - Age Group Races (Estes Park Track & Field - registration/check-in on the track)
June 21st - Sunday
- 3:50 - 6:20 a.m. - Packet Pickup for Marathon and Half Marathon
- 4:00 a.m. - Shuttle transportation will begin from Estes Park High School to the start line at the Dao House. (There will be no bus returning runners to the start line/Dao House from the finish line.)
- 4:45 a.m. - Sunrise Achievers Start (walkers depart with pacer to meet 11:15AM course closure) **This is for ALL marathon walkers!
- 5:10 - 5:20 a.m. - Marathon Start (rolling start format). PLEASE NOTE _ Course closes at 11:15AM
- 5:30 - 7:00 a.m. - Half Marathon Start (rolling start format)

- Start Line: Lake Estes Trail, North of the High School building and east of The Observatory, running counter-clockwise around Lake Estes.
- Finish Line: Estes Park High School Track and Field (all races finish)

Sunday Details
The MARATHON & HALF MARATHON courses start from the scenic Dao House on Hwy 7, and descend 1500ft within first 6.5 miles on mix of dirt trail, smooth surface road/pathways!
The Half Marathon will continue to descend directly to Lake Estes Trail for breath taking views of the Continental Divide.
The Marathon runners will travel on the Lake Estes Trail and run the Dry Gulch/Devil's Gulch loop, passing the historic Stanley Hotel.
As with all great journeys, the mountainous beauty will encourage you to overcome the physical and psychological challenges of the climbs and feel the thrill of several scenic downhills. Share the celebration and joy of running with us! Runner’s World magazine recommends this destination race, for a reason!

The Dao House, 6120 CO-Hwy 7. Start line is located at the lower parking lot.
- Transportation to Start Line: All Marathon participants must take the provided Rocky Mountain Transit buses to the Dao House start line area. Estes Park Marathon participants will be picked-up from the Estes Park High School parking lot beginning at 4:00AM. To reduce waiting and bus crowding, runners will sign up for their bus departure time at registration. Sign up is first come, first serve. Register early to secure your favorite bus time.
- NO transportation provided to return to start area post race.
- Runner dropped off by private vehicles allowed across from the entrance to the Dao House property. NO PRIVATE VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED ONTO THE DAO HOUSE PROPERTY. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Start Support: Several Porta Potties are provided. Water & gels provided.
- NO GEAR DROP OFF at start
- Rolling Start: Once runners disembark from bus, they can use the restroom and/or line up at start line to begin their glorious run!
- Aid Stations & Water Stations: Provided approximately every 2 miles. Beginning at MM6, Aid stations offer: Gels, Gatorade drink, & water. Water Stations offer: Water & Gatorade.
- Public Restrooms & PP: PP located at the Dao House and at ALL Aid Stations. Public Restrooms are located along the Lake Estes Trail.
- 6 hour course cut off time.
- All marathon participants must pass the 16MM (top of Dry Gulch Road) by 8:41AM and 20MM by 9:36AM (Stanley Hotel) or be taken off course.
- The course will officially close at 11:15AM. All participants must forfeit bib at 11:15AM, if they have not finished. There are NO exceptions.
- Packet Pick-up: is available at race registration at the Estes Park High School Commons Saturday, 7:00am- 5:00pm, or Sunday, 4:00AM – 6:25AM.
- NO Registration ALLOWED on race day.
- FINISHER CERTIFICATES– All marathon and half marathon finishers will be emailed a finisher certificate after the race.
- BEAUTIFUL FINISHER MEDAL– All marathon and half marathon finishers will receive a well deserved medal, to celebrate and brag about their achievement, for years to come!
- AWARDS: Age Group Awards for the Marathon & Half-Marathon: 19 & under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50- 59, 60- 69, 70 -79, 80+. Overall Masters category- 40 years and older.
- AWARDS DISTRIBUTED: Overall Top 3 Finishers receive awards at finish line 9:30AM. Age group awards will be mailed to award winners.

Transportation
Transportation to the start line:
- All participants are asked to use the provided shuttle services to reduce traffic on CO 7 race route. We want you to be safe and enjoy the magnificent views! Please help us, help YOU and race friends.
- During registration, participants will choose their shuttle departure time. The shuttle ride is about 20-25 minutes, upon arrival runners can use port-o-johns if needed, and then should proceed to the start line. In most cases, we anticipate you can be out on the course within approximately 10 minutes of disembarking the shuttle bus.
- Bus departures begin at 4:00AM. Please plan to be ready to board the bus 10 minutes prior to your departure time. The schedule needs to be strictly adhered to. For reference, your email confirmation will show the bus departure time you selected.
There will not be an official Gear Drop at start line. Any items found at the start will be bagged and dropped at finish line. The race organization is NOT responsible for any “lost” items.
Volunteers
Volunteers are needed throughout the weekend. Earn up to 50% off of your registration fee by volunteering!! There are opportunities during the week, Saturday, and Sunday so no matter which event you want to participate in, we can find a volunteer spot for you!! Let us know if you can be part of the team!
OR maybe your friends and family will be there to support you and want to additionally earn you a credit towards your registration! We would love to have their support!
