Mauritania, Nouakchott Marathon

There are not official marathons in many countries and capital cities in Africa. Our mission is to cover some exciting marathon venues “off the beaten track” on mostly low key, low cost, non profit basis for keen and adventurous marathon runners. Let the adventures nature of this unique group take us from Tunisia to Mauritania, and to Sierra Leone, from Mediterranean Sea to Atlantic Ocean, the African countries with thousands of years of history, culture and warmth. From Tunisia most northern country and gateway to Africa to Mauritania where the Sahara Desert, and where it meets blue water and white sand beaches of Sierra Leone.

- Each country / marathon has a separate registration and you may sign up for one, two or all races separately $30 each.

- Early Bird limit per event is caped at 15 runners for each race, registration for all races will close at once reached 15 per event or February 5, 2026.

- Start time of the each marathons: Sunrise for each event / country. Start-Times of all marathons are subject to change depending on weather and local conditions and will be announced definitively when the bib numbers are issued at the respective race briefing.

- Course : in general the marathons will all be on mostly flat terrain (not guaranteed) with multi laps.

- Finish : Cut-off time 9:00 after start (No Runner Left Behind)

- Timekeeping: The distance covered will be controlled by time keepers under the control of the Race Director. Mandatorily each runner has to carry a GPS-watch or other GPS devices with minimum 9 hours battery capacity as an additional distance control.

- Awards : All finishers of the respective marathon will receive a medal, finish results list and (finisher certificate is being considered).

- Important Note : Be advised that visas might be required and that it is the sole responsibility of the participants to obtain these. The marathons will be avoiding public roads and will be without an official permission, insurance or medical services. Every runner participates solely on their own risk. The organizers cannot be made liable in case a race cannot be staged due to circumstances not under their control or the race is stopped by authorities. The races are self supporting which means the participants bring their own drinks and nutrition for the race.

- All races will be limited to 15 runners based upon a first come, first serve basis. A waiting list maybe be established not at Early Bird Fees. The organizer reserves the right to reject registrations without giving reasons.

Interested runners are advised to register as soon as races are open, the registration is based on 1st come 1st serve.
