Help Natalie raise money

If you know me, you know Rue. To be honest, I’ve been dreading this moment for roughly half my life. However, nothing could have quite prepared me for the reality of losing my soul dog. This summer we had to say goodbye to our sweet, dear Rue. 

I’ve felt lost, empty, numb. But I’ve also felt strong, reflective, and thankful. 

With her I’ve been able to experience middle school, high school, undergrad, working, grad school, BIG girl job, marriage, home ownership. Rue literally lived in 10+ different places. 5 cities, 10 apartment/houses. 

Natalie may have entered her life a bit later, but Rue loved her all the same for 6 wonderful years. 

I will be and am forever thankful we were able to get her to our forever home. She was spunky until the very end. Her favorite activity was rolling around in the sun in her forever backyard.

I don’t think there is anything that could have truly prepared us for this. But we are continuing on and finding comfort in her memory every day. 

As we continue to love and live on, we acknowledge a commitment we made prior to her passing. 

We decided to start training for a 5k race a few weeks before we knew she was sick. Now, it feels even more impactful. Natalie and I will be running in the Nola Dogs Race to the Rescue 5k as Rue’s moms. Any donations go directly to benefit rescue pets.
