Frequently asked questions
Is there a minimum pace requirement for the 8K race?
- To ensure the safety of all participants and race staff, the course will be monitored by police and volunteers who will manage traffic and give runners the right of way. Roads along the route will reopen on a rolling basis as participants pass through. Participants must maintain a pace of 13:45 minutes per mile. Runners who fall behind this pace will be asked to move onto the sidewalk and continue without police or volunteer support. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us keep the event safe and enjoyable for all.

Can someone else pick up my Elizabeth 8K bib?
- Yes. Another person may pick up your bib number, but they must present one of the following:
- A note from you authorizing them to do so
- A copy of your race confirmation email
- A copy of your government‑issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
What are the registration policies for the race that I should be aware of?
- There are no refunds or deferrals for this race.
- Race Management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to unfavorable conditions.
- Registration fees are non-refundable in the event of cancellation due to Acts of God.
What type of SWAG will I receive?
- Race shirts from Recover Brands are guaranteed to participants who register before midnight on March 27. After that date, shirts will be available while supplies last.
- All participants will receive a commemorative leather coaster from ColsenKeane.
- All participants will be eligible to win random prizes.
- All 8K participants will be eligible to win overall, masters and age group awards.
Who are the beneficiaries for the Elizabeth 8K?
- Proceeds benefit the beautification of the Elizabeth neighborhood and TreesCharlotte, a public/private nonprofit collaboration whose mission it is to grow, diversify and steward the city’s iconic urban forest.
