FAQs:
- What does cup-less mean for this race?
Toohey Trail Run is continuing the sustainable change we made in 2025 and will remain a CUP-LESS EVENT in 2026.
In an effort to minimise our waste impact and align with existing trail runs there will be NO CUPS AT THIS EVENT (on course or in the precinct).
What does this mean for you?
- You will need to carry a bottle, collapsible cup or hydration pack.
- There will still be aid stations available on course, however we do not suggest relying on these station as a primary source of hydration on-course.
- You may experience delays at on course aid stations if stopping to refill
- We suggest carrying a min of 500ml capacity.
- What if I register but can’t make it on the day of the event?
Each entrant acknowledges their entry fee is non-refundable should they not compete.
- Can I enter and compete in more than one event?
Unfortunately, due to the timing of race starts and cut-off times, this is not possible.
- Can I run with a pram?
Absolutely, but an adult (18+) must be in control of the pram at all times. All prams must be off-road/racing prams – no strollers are permitted as they will not make it back over the finish line! Please start at the back of the pack and be mindful of other runners, particularly on narrow areas of the course.
- Can anyone participate?
Griffith Sport welcomes everyone from the local community and beyond to enter the Toohey Trail Run. Please be advised the course is all-terrain and there will be some uneven surfaces and inclines involved, so please ensure that you are comfortable with this style of event before entering. Anyone aged 5+ can participate in the 5km - children under the age of 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult (18+). Children under the age of 12 years old are not permitted to enter the 10km - children under the age of 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult (18+). Children under the age of 14 years old are not permitted to enter the 21.1km.
- Could the event be cancelled?
If weather deems the event unsafe, the event will be cancelled or postponed. If the event is cancelled before event day, every effort will be made to notify all participants by email, a notice will be placed on the website and the Griffith Sport Toohey Trail Run Facebook page. Please note: The decision to cancel an event is not made lightly; safety is our priority when making this decision. Unfortunately the entry fee is non-refundable.
- I have paid for my race entry in but haven’t heard anything – has my entry been accepted?
All entrants will receive an almost immediate confirmation email after entering. Ensure to check your junk mail filter, and if you can’t locate this email please let us know and we can send the details again (sportevents@griffith.edu.au).
- Entry change?
You can change your race up until the closing of online registrations if there is capacity in an alternate race. This includes transferring to a different race distance, or transferring your entry to another person. This is done via your participant portal or by clicking 'TRANSFER' here. Changes cannot be made once registrations close. Absolutely no changes will be permitted on race weekend.
- How safe is it to participate?
There will be Marshals situated along the course who have been briefed on the strict safety protocols which are in place. We conduct strict Risk Management and follow safety protocols. At every stage of the course there are friendly staff and volunteers there to assist if needed. All event staff will be wearing their event uniforms and will be easily identifiable. Experienced First Aid trained staff and professional medics will be on standby on course and in the race precinct. There will be aid stations on course, and at the Start/Finish Line. The race course is easy to follow with plenty of signage and volunteers along the way.
- How will I know where to run?
The course will be marked with infrastructure and directional signage and have course marshals on route. However it is the responsibility of the runner to know the course. Please familiarise yourself the course maps before race day.
