The mission of the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC) is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for self-identified women from all walks of life, who live and/or work in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside (DTES). DEWC has existed since 1978 to provide one of the few low-barrier, safe spaces in the DTES, a neighbourhood characterized by high levels of violence, homelessness, addictions, and poverty, where women and children are particularly vulnerable to exploitation and injustice.

The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC) operates low-barrier drop-in centres and shelters across the DTES, providing safety, support, nutritious meals, and essential services to women in the community. Today, we serve over 1,000 women and children every single day of the year — and that number continues to grow.
For many women, a warm, nutritious meal is the first step toward healing and hope, a doorway into wraparound supports that help them reclaim their lives. This year, help us raise $10,000 to expand our meals program and ensure no woman goes hungry.
