Countdown to event
The Mangy Coyote 13 HOUR
Formerly known as The Backyard Boogeyman, we are heading into 2026 with a new name inspired by our unexpected mascots from last year: the mangy coyotes of Trenton Park.
The name might sound intimidating, but this event really is for everyone.
Whether you are working toward your first 5 km, hoping to run farther than you ever have before, or planning to spend the entire day chasing 100 km or more, you get to decide what your race looks like.
How it works
The event runs for 13 hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
During that time, you can complete as many loops as you would like. Unlike a traditional backyard ultra, there are no mandatory start times for each lap. You do not have to start on the hour, keep a certain pace or finish a set number of loops.
Run a loop, take a break, grab something to eat, spend some time with your friends and head back out when you are ready.
Some people will run 5 km. Others might run 120 km. Most will fall somewhere in between. There is no wrong way to do it.
