The Mangy Coyote Backyard Ultra

The Mangy Coyote is a backyard ultra with bite: a scrappy, no-frills endurance event built for runners who thrive on the edge of discomfort. This event is a fundraiser for the Pictou County United Way.

Formerly known as "The Backyard Boogeyman" - we're entering 2026 with this newly imagined race name paying ohmage to our lovely 2025 mascots.. the Mangy Coyotes!

It’s a test of stubbornness, attitude, and survival.

For 13h - run a loop. Repeat.

The loops keep coming until the time is up - or you give up.

This isn’t about medals or glory. It’s about how far you’ll go before the wilderness spits you back out.

Format: Casual Backyard Style Ultramarathon
Start Time: 9:00am
Cutoff Time: 10:00pm
Aid Station: Hydration, light snacks, and the bare essentials - just enough to keep you honest.
Crew Area: Tent space near the start/finish line for gear, food, and support

*Loop distance TBD - Estimated distance would be 4-6km and 40-60m of elevation. Mixture of groomed double-wide gravel trails + singletrack technical.
