This prestigious event welcomes thousands of runners from around the globe to experience the beauty and spirit of Cape Town, South Africa. Set against the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, this flat and fast course is ideal for both first-time marathoners and those chasing personal bests.

The 2026 edition marks an exciting milestone as the race continues its journey toward becoming Africa’s first Abbott World Marathon Major and will also host the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships for masters runners.

*Anyone who runs the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will receive an Abbott World Marathon Major star assuming that Cape Town becomes a Major which will be announced shortly after the 2026 event.
