My Story
Hey Family and Friends,
As many of you know I started running last year as a way to stay active especially while travelling for work, and surprisingly I have somewhat kept it up! So, when I found out there was an EY team running the sporting life 10K I knew I had to sign up. Anytime I run my goal is pretty much just to finish haha but for this 10K my goal is also to raise enough money to send a child to camp for a week. In grade 9 I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to go to Kilcoo camp for a week and do my first ever canoe trip (pictured below). I was able to build lifelong friendships, push myself out of my comfort zone, and truly adventure and I instantly fell in love with it. I continued to go yearly throughout high school and now I go yearly with my Queens friends (some photos from last year are also below). It continues to be one of the highlights of my year and those memories I still carry with me. I truly believe every kid should be able to go to camp or at least experience the magic of it once, and as someone who did a brief stint living in a hospital I can see the value even more to kids who are forced to spend their time confined to a hospital room. All that being said, this is an cause close to my heart and I would truly appreciate any and all support ahead of my run. No pressure at all, even just a couple dollars will help me get towards my goal of $2,500 which will fund a week of camp for a child that otherwise wouldn't be able to experience it.
Thank you in advance and I love you all!

Description
Bring Joy, Friendship, and Connection to Kids Who Need It Most Every day, thousands of kids across Ontario face cancer or serious illness – and miss out on the moments that make up childhood. Laughter, friendship, and adventure are replaced with hospital visits and isolation. For 42 years, Campfire Circle has brought healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. Through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camp programs, we create opportunities for children to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being. By providing play-based experiences, we empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis. Today, more than 40,000 children in Ontario are living with serious illnesses. With your help, we can reach even more of them. Our goal is to serve 10,000 kids by 2030, and when you donate to the Sporting Life 10K, you join a circle committed to that vision. Your generosity ensures every medically fragile child can experience Campfire Circle’s life-changing programs when they need it most, at no cost to their families. Together, we can grow our circle of care and help deliver healing through happiness to more kids and families across Ontario. |
