My Story…
My sister and I will be running the 2026 ASICS Falmouth Road Race in support of the Boston North Cancer Association.
We are running in honor of our mother, who passed away eight years ago after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Her strength, compassion, and dedication to helping others continue to inspire us every day.
All donations raised through this race will support her legacy through:
The Mary Barbuzzi Breast Cancer Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a college-bound high school senior north of Boston whose parent is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer, has survived breast cancer, or has passed away from the disease. It provides meaningful support to families navigating one of life’s most difficult challenges.
About Mary Barbuzzi
Mary was a devoted member of the Boston North Cancer Association’s Board of Directors for over ten years. Born in Lynn and a lifelong resident of Swampscott, she was a respected leader in the home care industry. As a successful businesswoman, she built Freedom Home Care into one of the top private home care agencies on the North Shore. More importantly, she was a compassionate advocate for families facing illness.
We are proud to run in her memory!
