My Story…

Hey everyone! I am so excited to be running the Falmouth Road Race for the second year in a row, on behalf of the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts. Immediately after completing 7 miles last summer, I said, "I'm definitely doing that again!". But, this summer will be even more heartfelt and important. Not only am I going to be running FOR my Dad. I will be running...WITH my Dad.

On Thanksgiving eve 2024, my Dad sustained a severe traumatic brain injury after a freak fall in our driveway. He spent an entire month in a coma, waking up on Christmas Day. After waking up, he spent one additional month in the hospital, before spending 2 months in Rehab. He returned home in March of 2025, and has spent the last year absolutely CRUSHING his recovery. There was a lot of uncertainty and fear, but one thing I know for certain- he is a living miracle. I truly have no other words to describe this journey!!! My Dad has had to relearn how to walk, think, speak, and get back to his daily life. But he has always stayed the same Dad. Fierce, hilarious, motivated, positive, and always, always, working towards his next goal. He continues to make amazing progress and it blows me away each and every single day. I feel unbelievably honored to be working towards that next goal together.

This experience has shaped my family immensely and has allowed us to become stronger than ever, seeing this life in such a different light. I am so blessed to have my amazing and super-woman of a Mom, Kim, and supportive twin brother, Kyle, who will be cheering my Dad and I on in Falmouth. This race is all for them, the caregivers, and everyone fighting to reclaim their lives after a TBI. Each mile I will be sending them all of the love, healing, and strength!! Together, we are the VOICE OF BRAIN INJURY, and I don't know any other organization that amplifies this voice more than BIA-MA. If you feel motivated to support BIA-MA, I encourage you to donate!
