Hello!
Several years ago, I was diagnosed with "Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH)", resulting from adverse reaction to medication. My Liver began to fail, very quickly.
For the next six months I spent most of the time in the hospital. As the disease progressed, chemical imbalances put me into a state of dementia.
My family and friends fought hard to keep me alive.
My entire body began to shut down, and I was placed into palliative care. I was given just 2 days to live!
With less than 24 hours left, I was given "Last Rights".
Then, on the day "I was scheduled to die", the miracle happened, and a Liver match was found!
With only hours left to live, I was rushed to Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA and a grueling 12-hour transplant surgery was performed and saved my life!
New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinated getting the Liver and helped save my life!
I am running this 10k road race, virtually from Higgins Beach, Maine, to raise awareness and FUNDS to support NEDS so that they may help save and enrich the lives of others, as they did for me!

There are currently 6,500 patients waiting for an organ transplant in New England and countless others will require tissue to heal this year.
