My Story…
I’m honored to be running the Falmouth Road Race in support of Project Sweet Peas, an organization that provides support to families experiencing the challenges of the NICU and infant loss. For many families, the NICU journey can be overwhelming, filled with uncertainty, fear, and hope all at the same time. Organizations like Project Sweet Peas make an incredible difference by offering comfort, resources, and advocacy for the smallest and most vulnerable babies and to the families who love them.
Running this race is more than just completing seven miles—it’s about raising awareness and giving back to a community that supports families during some of the hardest moments of their lives.
This cause is incredibly personal to me. My son, Cody, was born at just 28 weeks at 1 pound 11 ounces and our family experienced firsthand the fear, uncertainty, and strength that comes with the NICU journey. Cody spent 102 days at south Shore hospital NICU and had the best care provided by the most amazing nurses, doctors, respiratory therapist and so many more. The first time I walked into the NICU, there was a care package of sweet pea resources next to my sons isolette that later turned to be some of the biggest support items I used throughout my NICU stay: journal to write down about my days and track Cody’s milestones, a bracelet to forever hold close to me at all times, a cooler to carry my breast milk back and forth to keep cool at all times to just name a few. Project sweet pea provided just the right resources to help me get through the toughest time in my life.
I am not only running for my Son, but I am also running to honor the tiniest fighters and the families walking this path every day. If you’re able, please consider making a donation to support Project Sweet Peas and help bring comfort and resources to NICU families who need it most. Any donation, big or small goes a long way 💜
