My Story…
Hi everyone!
I am running the Falmouth Road Race for my second year on the Breakthrough T1D team. As many of you know Type 1 Diabetes became a real part of our life on September 11, 2023 when my 2 year old Bowen was diagnosed just days before my daughter was born. At this point Bowen has lived with T1D for half his life. In the 2 and half years Bowen has had type 1 Diabetes there have been many highs and lows. Through all of this I have seen more strength and bravery from my boy than I could've ever imagined. I have chosen to honor Bowen and all those living with T1D by running the race this year. Please consider donating to help reach my goal of 2,000 to support Breakthrough T1D.
Description
Welcome to my personal Breakthrough T1D fundraising page!
I have joined Breakthrough T1D to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help Breakthrough T1D fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
Breakthrough T1D is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar Breakthrough T1D is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
The challenge I have set for myself — to raise money for Breakthrough T1D and to race — is modest compared to the daily challenges of life with T1D, which involves a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and insulin injections to manage the disease.
Please support me and donate to my fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Won't you please give to Breakthrough T1D as generously as possible today?
Thank you for your support!
