Welcome to my 2026 ASICS Falmouth Road Race Page!

As many of you know, on June 15, 2024 I had a stroke that that affected the entire right side of my body. This was caused from a large brain tumor, a meningioma, compressing my left MCA. I was able to get a large amount of the tumor removed in emergency surgery, which relieved the compression on my artery. Through two long weeks in the hospital, I was surrounded by family and friends, which improved this experience for me dramatically. After a few days of the unknown, I began regaining minor movement in my right side, starting with my fingers and toes. Then I was able to begin attempting to walk while assisted a short few days later. From using the patient lift device, to walking by myself with a walker, I was truly making progress. Before we knew it, I was showering by myself and able to have some degree of function back. While this would still be a long road ahead, being my stubborn self (obviously) was a big leading factor. Having PT and OT friends help me along the way was also huge considering how long it takes to get outpatient appointments!!! From being in the hospital for those 2 weeks, I was never 100% sure that I would be where I am today. Being able to be fully functional, return to work, and do the majority of day to day things normally is a dream come true.

As someone who loves the Cape, I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate being able to move my body than by running the Falmouth Road Race. I have been strength training for about a year now and I want to take it one step further with running this race. I am running for those with brain tumors that cannot, those that want to, and for those that can one day.

If you want to read more about my surgical journey, an article was written by my neurosurgeon, Dr. Rafael Vega, in the National Library of Medicine! Think of it as a quick little, light read!
