My Story…
When I was 11, my father died from a heart attack. It was sudden, and took my brother, my mom, and me by complete surprise. At the time, my mom was connected to an organization, The Children's Room, that has since then been supporting us through connection, shared experience, and community. This is their goal:
The Children’s Room provides grief support for children, teens, families, and the professionals who support them. This support is offered in person at our Arlington Center, in schools and community settings, and virtually. Through peer connection, shared experiences, creative expression, and education, we create spaces where children, teens, and their caregivers can express their grief, find commonalities with others, and feel supported by others who understand what they are going through.
I am running in the Falmouth Road Race this summer, not only to honor my dad, but as a thank you to this amazing organization that has helped my family through the worst times.
