My Story…
My name is Madelyn and I am a junior in highschool. This past November my life changed forever when I underwent open heart surgery.
I learned just two months prior to the surgery that I had a congenital heart defect (CHD). My specific CHD is called anomalous coronary artery. I had no choice but to have the surgery in order to continue to live my life, the way I wanted. The healing process has been and is still hard, but I am more than lucky to be here. And I am even luckier to be back running, doing what I love.
I am running for all the kids like me. Kids who have spent day after day in a hospital bed, wishing they could be like the "normal" kids.
I am honored to be running for the Heart Warrior Foundation. The foundation was created in order to bring awareness to the effect CHD's have on children and their entire families.
Description
Non-profit that assists and supports families and children affected by congenital heart defect defects. Heart Warrior Foundation has many programs that directly impact the Heart Center at Boston Children's Hospital.
