My Story…
I decided to run for the MBCC this year because breast cancer has affected my family for many years. I was drawn to MBCC’s mission because of their continuous efforts in education and research about environmental links to breast cancer. One of MBCC’s goals is to “challenge the commercialization of breast cancer and pink ribbon products as the solution to the breast cancer epidemic”. This goal especially resonates with me because of the close impact breast cancer on my family. My paternal grandmother lost her battle to breast cancer and my maternal grandmother and great-grandmother are survivors. Joining this team has encouraged me to continue a healthy lifestyle as a way to lower my risk of breast cancer and motivate others to educate themselves and go beyond the pink.
