Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP) is the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in Massachusetts.

For the fourth consecutive year, I'm proud to be running the Falmouth Road Race in support of Boston Community Pediatrics (BCP)—a nonprofit that's redefining what pediatric care should look like: equitable, compassionate, and community-based. BCP's mission is especially critical today - at a time when many families continue to face barriers to healthcare.

BCP provides exceptional medical care while also addressing the challenges that so often affect a child's health and well-being. From mental health services and legal advocacy to nutrition, education support, and family resources, BCP cares for the whole child and helps families overcome barriers to healthy, successful lives.

This mission is especially meaningful to me because of Dr. Robyn Riseberg, BCP's founder. Robyn has been an incredible mentor and role model to my daughter, Abbie, who is just about to complete her first year of nursing school and has chosen the pediatric track as she works toward becoming a nurse practitioner. Seeing Robyn's dedication to children and families inspired Abbie to pursue a career caring for children has made supporting BCP deeply personal for me.

Each year I'm inspired by the dedication of the BCP team and the impact they have on thousands of children and families throughout Boston. I'm proud to run again in support of their mission and to help ensure every child has access to the high-quality, compassionate care they deserve.

If you're able, I'd be grateful if you would consider making a donation. Every contribution—large or small—helps BCP continue this important work.

Thank you for supporting this incredible organization—and for encouraging me every step of the way.

Description

The current reality of pediatric healthcare is that children with low income are 3x more likely to have an unmet health need and have an increased risk of chronic illness. In fact, nearly 40% of BCP patients have been diagnosed with one or more chronic illnesses, from asthma to depression. And children face a 23-year life expectancy difference between Roxbury and Back Bay, just two miles apart, in our very own city. BCP knows Boston can, and must, do better.

When a family walks through BCP's doors, they receive more than outstanding medical care; they find a community. From integrated behavioral health care and nutrition support to parenting groups, after-school programs, and one-on-one care navigation assistance, BCP wraps care around the whole child, meeting families where they are and standing with them every step of the way. And BCP provides all this support regardless of families’ ability to pay.

You make it possible. Powered by your generous giving, BCP is able to drive innovation and set a new standard for pediatric primary care, all by putting the needs of patients before the interests of payors.

For each of BCP's patients, the difference is palpable. As one BCP mom shared: “Imagine a world where caring doctors and a supportive team are actually by your side, ready to help with anything. [BCP has] been an anchor for me and my children, helping us navigate challenges and bringing immense peace of mind.  As a mother, BCP's presence is more valuable than words can express.”

I am running the 54th annual Falmouth Road Race to go the extra mile, literally, for BCP patients and their families. Every dollar I raise supports BCP’s ability to reimagine pediatric care, ensuring that BCP can continue to provide the highest-quality primary care, mental health care, and care navigation and wellness support for all families, regardless of their circumstances. Your gift fuels this crucial work at an especially challenging moment for children with low income in this country. Together, we can change the way healthcare is delivered to all children.
