I'm running the Falmouth Road Race to END ALZ!
My decision to run the Falmouth Road Race as part of Team End ALZ is deeply personal. I am running in memory of my grandfather, George Glasgow, and my Aunt, Frances Avitabile, two incredible people whose lives were impacted by Alzheimer's disease.
My grandfather, George, passed away in 2013 from Alzheimer's disease. George was a dedicated teacher, coach, veteran, and family man. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, spent 35 years as a teacher, coach, and guidance counselor, and was inducted into Fairleigh Dickinson University's Hall of Fame for his contributions to soccer as both a player and coach. More importantly, he was a loving grandfather who cherished spending time with his family. One of his favorite places was Cape Cod, where our family created many special memories together. Running this race on the Cape is a meaningful way for me to honor his legacy and remember the joy he brought to those around him.
I am also running in memory of my Aunt Franny, who passed away from Alzheimer's disease in 2022. Aunt Franny was the heart of her family. She was known for her love of Italian cooking, her famous meatballs, and the way she brought people together around the table. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
Watching the effects of Alzheimer's on the people I love has shown me how devastating this disease can be, not only for those diagnosed, but for their families as well. That is why I am proud to support the Alzheimer's Association and Team End ALZ. Every donation helps fund critical research, support services, and efforts to find a cure.
As I run the Falmouth Road Race, I will be carrying the memories of my grandfather and Aunt Franny with me every step of the way. Thank you for supporting this cause and helping us move closer to finding a cure.
