Help Joe raise money

I am honored to be running the 2026 Falmouth Road Race as a part of Team End ALZ and in honor of my father, Jose Brum. 

My dad was diagnosed with early onset Dementia in 2019 at the age of 59 years old. My family and I worked together to care for my dad after his diagnosis. With the help of my family, and my wife and I acting as live-in care takers, we worked together to keep him home for as long as we could. In 2022, we made the tough decision to move him to a nursing home once 24/7 care was needed.

Seeing Dementia affect someone you love is heartbreaking. My dad was known for his big personality, his kindness, his sense of humor, and the love he shared with everyone around him. Seeing that vibrant part of who he was get stripped away so quickly by this disease was incredibly painful for me and my family.

Unfortunately, my story is not unique. Families across the world know all too well the heartbreak of watching a loved one slowly lose their memory, independence, and ability to connect with the people they love most. Alzheimer's doesn't just impact the individual diagnosed—it affects entire families, caregivers, and communities.

I am running this race in honor of my dad and in support of everyone who has been touched by this disease. Each mile will be dedicated to his memory and to the hope that one day families will no longer have to endure the pain that Alzheimer's causes.

My fundraising goal is $5,000, and every donation—no matter the size—helps support Alzheimer's care, research, and programs for patients and their families. Together, we can help advance the search for better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
