Raise money for Strathcona Community Policing Centre

The Strathcona Community Policing Centre (SCPC) is a registered charity and not for profit society, governed by an independent community-based board, that operates in coordination with the Vancouver Police Department and other community agencies. We have two full time staff, and are largely driven by our passionate team of 100+ (and growing!) volunteers.

What We Do

Strathcona CPC staff and board members strive to:

  • -engage the community in volunteer-driven programs to assist with safety, wellbeing and crime reduction;

  • -coordinate residents and community stakeholders in the design, development and implementation of new initiatives;

  • -act as a community liaison with the Vancouver Police Department and other community-minded agencies;

  • -operate a warm and welcoming storefront to connect residents with CPC programs and other community-based services;

  • -cultivate a safe and inclusive neighbourhood for everyone.

Some Testimonials from our volunteers and people in the neighbourhood:

 “I’m a senior citizen. I enjoy volunteering with the Strathcona CPC because I get to spend time with enthusiastic and idealistic young people who want to contribute to our society through community involvement and law enforcement. I appreciate our CPC’s focus on creating connections among people of different cultural backgrounds by providing social opportunities for them while raising their awareness on important topics of everyday living in our “dangerous” world.”

~ Rick

“During my time at the Strathcona CPC, I had hoped to become a more well-rounded person through a variety of unique and engaging experiences. That is exactly what I received, and I benefited greatly from its focus on community policing principles and practices.”

Canadian Red Cross

Canadian Red Cross - Nbc Rewards“The SCPC addressed a gap in training that the HELP program has long struggled to fill. With the safety of our teams as our priority, the training has directly influenced how services are delivered, addressing safety concerns specific to work in the Downtown east side. The team had very positive feedback on the course; they were able to ask questions and work through past real-life situations. Having a community led solution that provides practical and relevant strategies to support safe service delivery has been invaluable.” Angela Sammon, Director, Red Cross BC & Yukon

Cedar Cottage Neighborhood House

Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House“We took the de-escalation training to better equip our team in supporting community members during challenging interactions. The training was practical, engaging, and grounded in real-life scenarios. It gave us clear tools and language to use in the moment and helped our staff feel more confident and supported in their roles. We’ve already noticed a positive shift in how we approach difficult conversations.”

Chavi Weerawansha, Manager of Community Programs
