Welcome to Wainwright's first Backyard Ultra!!!
This event will follow the backyard ultra concept of 6.7km loop on the hour every hour for a max of 24 hours (100miles).
The general concept will be that each runner will have 1 hour to complete the 6.7km loop. Then on the hour, we will start again over and over until we have no runners or we reach the 24 hour time limit (100miles).
The winner will the last person standing and the winning assist will be the second last person standing. In the event we have more than 2 runners starting the final loop, the winner will be the fastest final lap with the assist being the second fastest lap.
This event is meant to be a fun and everyone is welcomed to take part. This is a chance to experience the BYU concept with a fun group of people. Do 1 loop or 24 loops.
This BYU will also be a fund raiser for the Wainwright Pound in Lassa’s name. For those that do not know Lassa. She was the beloved dog of WR founder Shane Mascarin, that passed away suddenly in the fall of 2025. $20 from each run registration will be donated. We will also accept donation of pet items and food that will be dropped at the Wainwright pound.
The race will start out at the Wainwright Splash Park and will be ran on all hard surfaces with mostly asphalt running paths and sidewalks with some running on the road. Runners/crews can setup in the grass at the splash park and use the flush toilets on site. There will be no official aid station so bring what you need and help other racers out if you have lots!
Each racer will receive a hooded blanket, a DNF wood coin and the chance to run 100 miles in town.
Wainwright Runners has a zero tolerance policy for any physical or verbal abuse to any racers, volunteers or race staff. Wainwright Runners reserve the right to not allow racers with past issues.

Start/Finish
There will be limited snacks and water at the start/finish. Please bring all your fuel and hydration needs.
There will be flush toilets at the start/finish.
The Race site will be in the town of Wainwright’s splash park.
Please bring your well behaved running buddy to the race. We just ask that your dog is leashed at all times and pick up after it. If your dog is interfering with other runners please stop.
There is camping at the start location. Middlemass camp ground.
All finishers will get a hand made DNF wood coin.
The winner will be the last runner standing and the assist will be the second last runner. If more than one runner exist in the final lap then the fastest final lap will be the winner. The second fastest the assist.
Due to a limited amount of racers there will be no refunds. But you can transfer your registration.
