Donations will support the Mental Health and Addictions (MHA) Program at Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH), which provides a full-continuum model of care, planned and designed according to needs of the patients in our community. Focussed on early detection and early intervention, the JBH MHA Program prevents issues from compounding and becoming more complex in the future by ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time. JBH’s award-winning and innovative MHA programs are designed to remove barriers and the unnecessary challenges for patients and families trying to navigate a complex system.
Why We Run. Alison’s Story
Alison’s journey with mental health brought her to Joseph Brant Hospital, where she found the care and support she needed to move forward. Thanks to the programs and services made possible through community support, Alison is now in a better place, and her story is a reminder of the impact we can all make together.
For Alison, it all started with counting. “Since the age of eight, relentless, unexplainable counting was the base for my day,” she says. “I was checking door knobs three times, checking that the stove was turned off three times.”
Alison felt like doing things in a very particular way was the key to safety, and if she didn’t do them, something terrible would happen. Read Alison’s full story here.
