Route Marshals
Be part of race day and help bring the McLeans Forest Half to life. Our volunteers play a crucial role in creating a safe, smooth, and memorable event for every runner.
As a route marshal, you’ll be stationed at key points along the course including trail intersections, vehicle crossings, and shared-track areas, helping runners stay on course and cheering them through the forest. You’ll be the friendly faces that keep everyone moving in the right direction and feeling supported.
Volunteering is a great way to:
Be involved in a major community event
Enjoy a front-row view of the action (without running the distance!)
Spend time outdoors in McLeans Forest
Support runners of all abilities, from first-timers to seasoned athletes
No previous experience is needed, we will provide a briefing, clear instructions, and support on the day. Whether you’re a keen runner, a park supporter, or just enjoy being part of something positive, we’d love to have you on the team.
Start/finish Marshals
Be at the heart of the action and help deliver an unforgettable race-day experience at the McLeans Forest Half. Start and finish marshals play a key role in welcoming runners, keeping the event running smoothly, and creating an upbeat atmosphere from the first start horn to the final finisher.
You’ll assist with tasks such as guiding runners into the correct start waves, managing finish chute flow and helping participants as they complete their race. This role is perfect for those who enjoy engaging with people and being part of the buzz of race day.
Volunteering as a start/finish marshal is a great way to:
Be part of the excitement at the event hub
Welcome and celebrate runners as they start and finish their race
Support smooth and safe event operations
Help create a positive, memorable experience for participants and spectators
No previous experience is required. You’ll receive a briefing, clear instructions, and support on the day. If you enjoy being organised, friendly, and part of a high-energy environment, this is a great role to be involved in.
