Why the Gran Fondo?
June, 2016 kicked-off a year of surgeries following a serious accident.
It marked the start of a long, multi-year recovery ... and a different way of seeing community, care, and resilience.
Over the past several weeks, I’ve been training on those same roads with my newly rebuilt IKEA Sladda bike, named Eklund.
We’ve been preparing for the #GranFondoLakeHuron 50KM route.
I won’t be here for the official ride in August, so I’m taking on the challenge early.
I’ve assembled a small pit crew of supporters, drink-station cheerleaders, and a finish line set for #July 26, 2026.
But this ride is about more than distance.
It’s about the #LocalHealthcare and community services that quietly support so many of us across this peninsula. Friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, and visitors alike.
In true Swedish fashion, Eklund and I may have been flattened into a few pieces over the years, but with some rebuilding and a couple replacement parts, we came back stronger than ever.
I believe in community, and in showing up for the people and places that show up for us.
Every contribution goes directly toward supporting local healthcare services in our region. I’ll share updates as the kilometres add up!
Thank you for your support!
