Join us for some fa-la-la-la-fun and Volunteer for Holiday Race Magic at the BlackToe Holiday 10k!
Help bring the 2026 race to life and celebrate another year of running, community, and holiday cheer.
All volunteers receive an Asics volunteer hoodie, touque, snacks, community service hours (if applicable), and an unforgettable experience.
Your support keeps the holiday spirit shining - and definitely earns you a spot on the nice list.
A quick note: You may select up to two volunteer roles, but you’ll be assigned to one based on where help is most needed. If you choose multiple days, we’ll reach out to confirm whether you’d like to volunteer on more than one date.
Course Marshals
- Ensure the safety of the participant
- Direct runners along the route
- Inform any non-authorized vehicles that roads are closed for two hours (by authority of the City and Police)
- Minimize interference with the race from traffic/pedestrians/aliens(!)
- Cheer on and encourage participants as they pass by – “Great pace! Keep going!”
- Return to event site to return your vest and assist with tear down and clean up
Event Set-Up
- Assist with the set-up and take-down of equipment, barriers, signs, tents, etc.
- Unload supplies.
- Work with a team to ensure proper set-up of tents, tables, chairs, and other event infrastructure.

Flex'er to the Volunteer Manager
- Flexible and can work in a fast-paced environment, doing many tasks.
- With no definite position, this volunteer may serve as a key volunteer in a specific area or substitute for a volunteer who is absent or late.
- May be reassigned numerous times to different tasks depending on where the need arises.
- Has excellent communication skills and enjoys moving to different jobs.
- Assist with tear-down and clean-up of stations & event site.
- Neatly pack and load supplies into event vehicles
Gear Check
- Label, organize, and store runner’s backpacks when they drop off and retrieve them in a timely manner post race.
- Watch over (and protect) runners’ belongings during the race.
- Having patience and organizational skills. Able to work under stress for a brief period.
- Be friendly and welcoming.
- Assist with tear-down and clean-up of station & event site.
- Neatly pack and load supplies into event vehicles
Greening Team
- Help minimize environmental footprint
- Maintain a clean and pleasant environment at the event party site.
- Distribute refuse and recycling containers according to guidelines.
- Help deliver a memorable participant experience by maintaining a pleasant, healthy environment.
Greeters
- Help direct/navigate participants and spectators around the party site
- Answer FAQs about the race
- Support with post race clean up
- Should have great customer service skills, be comfortable communicating with participants and working in a fast paced environment
Medals/Start-Finish Marshal Support
- Start/Finish Marshals
- Ensure the safe start and finish of the participants.
- Direct runners to through the start line and after they cross the finish line
- Cheer on and encourage participants as they pass by – “Have a great race!/Great race!”
- Assist with tear-down and clean-up.
- Medal Distribution
- Unpack and lay out the medals for quick and efficient handouts.
- Reward medals to finishers after their run.
- Have a pleasant customer service demeanor and be congratulatory and friendly.
- Assist with tear-down and clean-up.
Post-Race Food Distribution
- Hand out snacks to re-nourish runners post-race.
- Under the Party Site Manager, set out food and efficiently distribute items to finishers.
- Keep items restocked for the constant flow of finishers.
- Clean up (bonus if you help with leftovers!).
- Assist with event-site tear-down and clean-up.
Pre-Race Kit Pick Up
- Greet participants & assist with participant line - keep it moving and fun
- Distribute bib numbers, race swag, and other relevant materials to participants before the race at BlackToe Running.
- Set up, organize, and distribute materials efficiently.
- Be comfortable working on a laptop.
- Bring a pleasant customer-service demeanor—be encouraging and friendly.

Race Site Support & Tear Down
- Maintain a tidy, clean and pleasant environment at the Event Party Site.
- Assist with the tear-down of equipment, barriers, signs, tents, etc.
- Assist with tear-down and clean-up of stations & event site.
- Neatly pack and load supplies into event vehicles
Water Station - Course
- Hydrate runners along the course.
- Set up the station under the direction of the Water Station Manager for efficient handouts.
- Hand out cups of water as runners pass.
- Encourage runners and cheer them on.
- Clean up the station afterwards.
Water Station - Start/Finish
- Hydrate runners
- Set up the station for efficient handouts under the direction of the Start/Finish (Party Site) Manager.
- Hand out water before, during, and after the race.
- Congratulate runners.
- Clean up the station post-race.
