Welcome to the Tails in the Wind Mile!

Join us on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for Calgary's only dog mile! Whether you are chasing a 1-mile PR or just looking for a fun morning stroll with your furry best friend, this net-downhill, wind-at-your-back course is designed to be the fastest fun on four legs.
The Divisions
We want everyone to enjoy the park safely, so we are offering separate divisions:
The Dog Divisions: Run or walk the mile with your furry friend!
The Human-Only Divisions: No dog? No problem! Chase your fastest mile unhindered.
(Note: We will utilize staggered wave starts beginning at 9:30 AM to ensure plenty of space on the path for everyone).
The Race
The course will start near Snowy Owl Picnic Area and end near Bluebird Picnic Area (point to point, downhill!).
Course Accuracy: This 1-mile route has been accurately wheel-measured to ensure exact distance.
Course Etiquette: Please stay on the right side of the pedestrian path, except to pass
Shared Course: We do not have exclusive usage of the path. We will be sharing with the public and other races occurring simultaneously.
We will do our best to ensure the smoothest experience for our racers!
The Post-Race Pawty
The fun doesn't stop at the finish line! Stick around the Bluebird Picnic Area for post-race festivities, including:
Finish line photos and a bubble machine!
Post-race human snacks (fruit, granola bars)
The ultimate Doggy Buffet (treats, peanut butter, and plenty of water)
Running for AARCS
This event is proudly partnered with the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS). A portion of every registration goes directly to helping animals in need. We highly encourage you to set up a fundraising page during registration and ask your friends and family to pledge your run! Our goal is to raise a minimum of 1000$!
Important Doggie Rules of the Road:
To ensure a safe and fun event for all species, please review the following rules:
Keep it Short: All dogs must be on a standard leash (maximum 6 feet). No retractable leashes permitted.
One-to-One: Maximum of one dog per registered human.
Vaccinated & Friendly: All dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations and comfortable in crowded environments with other dogs and humans.
Scoop the Poop: You are responsible for picking up after your pet! We will have extra bags and bins on the course.

Solo Jaunt (Human Only - Open)
Love dogs but don't have one to bring? This wave is your time to shine! Hit the trail for a fun and furry-free mile. Prime viewing for the dog waves afterward. Includes human entry, race bib, finish line refreshments, and race package. Time results provided.
Solo Sprint (Human Only - Competitive)
Before the dogs take over the course, it’s time to see what the humans can do! This wave is designed for runners who want an unobstructed, all-out race to the finish. Includes human entry, race bib, finish line refreshment, and entry package. Hand timing will be used and results are provided to the tenth of a second.
Sniff and Stroll (Dog and Human Walkers)
One mile. Four paws. Plenty of wagging tails. Come for the walk, stay for the treats! Includes human and dog entries, race bibs, finish line refreshments/treats, and race package.
Dynamic Duo (Dog and Human Runners)
Lace up your sneakers and grab the leash! These waves are for active dog-and-human duos who want to pick up the pace and run or jog the mile together. Whether your pup is your daily training partner or just loves a good sprint through the park, this is your chance to break a sweat side-by-side. Includes human and dog entries, race bibs, finish line refreshments/treats, and race package. Hand timing will be used to provide results. Timed results will be provided.

Youth Entry
Discounted entry for runners under the age of 18.
