My Story…

Since my stroke on the morning of Oct 31, 2023, the Brain Injury Network has been instrumental in my recovery. After 7 weeks of ICU and inpatient care as well as 3.5 months of outpatient care, I quickly realized that my mental acuities as well as physical balance were not at a level that would allow me to fully function at my job as well as other areas of my life.  I was not fully baked.

I needed something more. Somewhere to implement all these memory strategies that were learned and reinforced in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.  I found exactly what I needed at the Brian Injury Network. Their implementation of the work order day environment significantly helped in my recovery. My cognitive function has drastically improved as well as my balance and physical endurance. My "Yet" goals continue to be met and, in most cases, exceeded through this immersion.  While there are still many "Yet" goals that need to be turned into "Yes" accomplishments in my journey, BIN is here to help me navigate through all the successes and pitfalls.

The Brain Injury Network is a clubhouse where individuals who experience brain injuries through stroke, TBI or cancer have a place to find our new norm but more importantly, realize that we still have value. Please contribute to the Brain Injury Network.  The work they do significantly improves the lives of Brain Injury Survivors.
