Standard Bike Division
The Standard Bike Division is open to traditional, non-motorized bicycles only. Allowed bicycles include:
• Road bikes
• Gravel bikes
• Cyclocross bikes
• Mountain bikes
• Hybrid bikes
NOT ALLOWED:
• Electric-assist bicycles
• Motorized bicycles
• Throttle-powered bikes
Standard Bike Division participants are eligible for:
• Top 3 Overall Female
• Top 3 Overall Male
• Top 3 Female and Male in each age group
Participants competing in the E-Bike Division are not eligible for Standard Bike Division awards.
E-Bike Division
The Kanuga Triathlon proudly offers a dedicated E-Bike Division.
This division is designed for athletes who want to participate using electric-assist technology while maintaining competitive integrity and safety for all participants.
Division Structure
• E-Bike athletes will start before the Standard Bike Division
• E-Bike athletes are scored separately
• E-Bike participants are not eligible for Standard Bike Division awards
Approved E-Bikes
To compete in the E-Bike Division, bicycles must meet ALL of the following requirements:
• Class 1 pedal-assist ONLY
• Motor assistance must cut off at 20 mph
• No throttle-equipped bikes
• No motor modifications exceeding manufacturer specifications
• No alteration of factory speed settings
Class 2 (throttle-equipped) and Class 3 (assist up to 28 mph) E-bikes are NOT permitted.
Any bicycle capable of motor assistance beyond 20 mph or equipped with a throttle will be disqualified from competition and awards eligibility.
Race officials reserve the right to inspect equipment prior to or during the event.
By registering in the E-Bike Division, athletes acknowledge that their equipment meets Class 1 specifications.
Safety & Conduct
• Drafting is NOT allowed
• Ride predictably and safely
• Clearly announce passes
• Follow all standard cycling rules
Unsafe riding or rule violations may result in time penalties or disqualification.
