My Story…
I started volunteering with Distress Centres of Greater Toronto (DCGT) in 2025 through their "988 National Suicide Crisis Helpline" program. Since then, I’ve seen firsthand how valuable and necessary organizations like DCGT are in making crisis support accessible when people need it.
In addition to 988, DCGT runs many different programs offering different types of support in our community. I especially want to highlight the multilingual support DCGT makes available to people who may express themselves better in their mother tongue. I only wish I had known about these services earlier.
On Sept 13, I’m taking part in the Walk for Suicide Awareness to support this work, open a dialogue, and help make these services better known. I’m grateful for any contribution, large or small.
