My Story…

This year, I am proud to walk for Team Julia in support of Joanne, John, Joseph and Jinger, who honour her memory every day by keeping her spirit alive. When someone dies by suicide, alongside the overwhelming grief comes a flood of questions that may never have answers. Could I have done something differently? Why didn't I see the signs? How do I go on from here? And the impact extends far beyond the individual. Parents, spouses, siblings, children, friends, coworkers, and entire communities are left carrying the weight of that loss. Too often, they carry it alone. This is where Distress Centres of Greater Toronto steps in. Every day, the organization provides compassionate support to people navigating some of the darkest moments of their lives. Through crisis lines, emotional support services, suicide prevention programs, and bereavement support for survivors of suicide loss, they offer a safe place for people to speak openly about their pain without judgment.
