Volunteer With Joy in Action
Joy in Action is a community event, and it only works because of volunteers. If you enjoy encouraging others or helping things run smoothly behind the scenes, we’d love to have you join us.
No experience needed — we’ll walk you through everything.
Volunteer Roles
Joy Stations
Each course will have five Joy Stations along the route. These are fun, encouraging spots that help keep participants motivated. A couple of stations will also serve as water stations.
Finish Line
We’ll have finish line volunteers at each event to help welcome participants, keep things moving, and support the finish area. There will also be volunteers to help guide participants along the way.
Course & Sweep Volunteers
The main event routes are out-and-back loops allowing for lots of friendly encouragement along the way. Course volunteers help guide participants and offer encouragement at key points.
Sweep volunteers follow behind the final participants to make sure everyone is accounted for and the course is clear.
In Selkirk, we also have a supported cycling route from selkirk Park to Netley Creek. This is not a race. Riders are sent out intermittently, follow normal traffic laws, and ride as regular vehicles. Two water stations will be on the course, one will be at the pull in station under the bridge, with the other one at Netley Creek.
Set-Up & Tear-Down
We also need help setting up before the event and packing everything up afterward, including Joy Stations, signage, and the start/finish area.
Volunteer Meeting
We’ll hold a volunteer meeting about one week before each event. All volunteers will be contacted directly with the date and time.
Volunteering with Joy in Action is a simple way to support an important cause and be part of a really positive day. Thanks for being part of it.
