Our Why
Our son Jax was born and quickly developed hyperbilirubinemia which caused severe jaundice, his body was breaking down his red blood cells quicker then his liver could process them. The amazing care team at the Drumheller Health Centre made sure we were set up at the Ronald McDonald house in Red Deer during both of our admissions to the Neonatal Intensive Care unit where Jax underwent multiple phototherapy treatments to treat his high levels of bilirubin.
The Ronald McDonald house truly felt like a home away from home, my husband and I were welcomed with open arms and flooded with emotion when we toured the house for the first time. The staff and volunteers made sure we had all the necessities we could possibly need, on top of fresh meals each day.
We cannot thank the medical team at both Drumheller and Red Deer enough for how well they cared for us and our son during this time.
I am grateful to say we have a happy healthy boy who keeps us on our toes already.
I will be running my first 5k race in support of the Ronald McDonald house. Please join me in raising money in support of this amazing foundation so they can continue caring for families like us.

"Being at the Ronald McDonald House was like walking out of your stressful life full of fear and worry and being wrapped up in a warm, safe blanket that whispered in your ear, 'everything will be okay.'" - The Jubb family (past RMHC family)
