*Individuals with visual impairments (complete blindness, partial blindness, and low vision) (T11, T12, and T13)
| |
In the group of individuals with visual disabilities, when picking up their package, they need to present an original medical certificate confirming total blindness, partial blindness, or visual impairment, and it should be endorsed solely by an institution of
Government. ISSSTE, IMSS, and Health Sector (private institutions are not allowed) must operate with a guide and require mandatory masks.
Considering all of this, individuals with visual impairments (T11, T12, and T13) and those who are blind (either partially or completely) need to show both the original and a copy of certain documents when picking up their runner's pack. This includes the Original Medical Certificate confirming total blindness, partial blindness, or visual impairment, which should be endorsed by a Government Institution, ISSSTE, IMSS, or the Health Sector. They also need to provide the Medical Diagnostic Form for Athletes With Visual Impairment, which should be endorsed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and FEMEDECIDEVI.
The runner with low vision will be able to run at their best with two guides, along the whole event route, who can be either women or men.
The guide needs to wear a vest or some other bright-colored clothing that sets them apart from the runner with a disability, and it should clearly say "guide."
T11 CLASSIFICATION ATHLETES B1
From individuals who can't see light with either eye to those who can see light but can't identify the shape of a hand, no matter the distance or position.
T12 CLASSIFICATION B2 ATHLETES
From someone who can identify the shape of a hand to someone with a visual acuity of 2/60 and/or a field of vision of less than 5 degrees.
T13 CLASSIFICATION B3 ATHLETES
From individuals with a visual acuity better than 2/60 to those with a visual acuity of 6/60 and/or a field of vision that spans an angle greater than 5 degrees but less than 20 degrees.
The ELITE category will be invite-only, with a cap of 100 athletes for each gender.

REGULATION
The existing World Athletics rules will be in effect in Mexico.
GUIDELINES
The Mexico City Marathon has the backing of World of Athletics in Mexico, WA, and AIMS.
BIB NUMBER:
You'll get a timing chip that’s linked to your printed participation number. This chip is non-transferable, and you need to wear it on the front at chest height during the race to be recognized as an official race runner.
MEDICAL EXPENSE INSURANCE:
If there's an accident, the runner needs to be the one holding the number; otherwise, it won't be covered.
Make sure to write the runner's name on the back of the number, along with their blood type. If there are any allergies or illnesses, those should be noted as well.
SERVICES:
Runners need to stick to the official supply zone for their numbers.
RECOVERY PLAN:
You’ll get a finisher's medal, some fruit, water, and an isotonic drink. But remember, these are just for runners who have their official race number. If you don’t have a number, you’ll be taken out of the race and won’t be allowed into the recovery area.
T-SHIRT SIZE:
Asking for a t-shirt size when you register is just for stats and doesn’t mean the Organizing Committee has to give you that size.
RUNNERS SETTING UP:
Participants need to make their way to the assigned starting point.
Your starting block will be assigned based on the details from your registration. If you enter from a different block, you’ll be disqualified. To keep everyone safe, it’s really important to stick to your assigned starting block.
TIMES AND RESULTS:
There will be timing mats set up along the whole route, so it's really important to go through all the checkpoints to steer clear of disqualification. As runners hit those checkpoints, you can keep an eye on their progress in real time using the Marathon App. Just a heads up, though—the times and results you see posted aren’t the official ones.
UNOFFICIAL PARTICIPANT:
They can't participate in the race and will need to exit the route.
Anyone who isn't officially registered and enters or accompanies a participant during the event will need to leave the course right away. These unofficial runners put the safety and quality of service at risk for those who have registered and paid properly. Additionally, participants found with a fake bib number will face penalties and won't be allowed to run in any events under the "Mexico City Marathon" brand (including races leading up to the Mexico City Marathon, Half Marathon, and Marathon) in the future.
ROUTE BOUNDARY SETTING:
Participants need to stay within the boundaries of the route, which are marked by fences, signs, or other indicators, at all times. They should be aware of and understand the event signage and symbols that provide race directions and services, and they must follow the officials' instructions. Not following these rules will lead to disqualification.
TIME DEADLINE:
You can run at a pace of up to 8 minutes and 30 seconds per kilometer, which means you'll finish the route within 6 hours at the most. If anyone is moving slower than that, they'll be asked to hop on the sweep vehicle that trails behind and will take them to the finish line. Unfortunately, those runners will be disqualified and won't be part of the official results.
ROUTE TRACKING:
Not finishing the whole route or crossing the finish line means disqualification. If participants have incomplete or unusual markings on the official timing mats, they’ll be checked and could be disqualified. If someone needs to step off the route or come back on, they can only do it at the same spot and won’t be allowed to re-enter the race, whether it’s to improve their position or help another competitor.
Note: any runners caught being unsportsmanlike, like skipping parts of the course to finish early, will be disqualified.
JUDGES
The judges will be approved by the World of Athletics in Mexico, and an Electronic Timing System will be utilized, featuring a chip attached to the competitor's number that they’ll wear on the front during the race (this system is just for support and doesn’t decide the winners).
