About Captain Sisson

Ret. Captain II George L. Sisson was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and firefighter who spent his career serving the DC area. He loved United States history and the Washington Nationals, loyal to both through the highs and lows. He was also a big fan of music (oldies of course) with a emphasis on the Beatles.
George was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in September 2019 and passed away in May 2020. Throughout this time he received support and mentorship from the FCSN. He is remembered by his children for his integrity, humor, and commitment to a life of service.
This race honors his legacy and the many firefighters and families affected by cancer.
About FCSN
The Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN) leads the way in cancer prevention education and research. They provide a vital lifeline to firefighters facing a diagnosis. Your participation ensures that other families receive the mentorship and resources George found so valuable during his journey.
