Ned's Wish is excited to welcome you to our sixth annual Heroes Run on October 3, 2026! This unique, dog-friendly fundraising event will honour the courageous sacrifice of RCMP Police Dog Bandit, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty while serving alongside Corporal Rick Mosher in George's River, Cape Breton on June 25, 2000. Participants and their canine companions are invited to commemorate Bandit's bravery by running or walking a 5km distance, celebrating his unwavering dedication to service and his handler.
All proceeds from Heroes Run will support retired police and military service dogs across Canada, ensuring these loyal heroes receive the care and quality of life they deserve in their retirement. Participants have the following registration options for 2026:
OCTOBER 3 (In Person)
- Ace's K-9 Care - 5877 Leslie Road, Prince George, BC - hosted by Ace's K-9 Care the event will feature a 5km race course as well as a pet fair featuring pet related vendor booths, food trucks and PUPPY YOGA!! Registration for Yoga will be the morning of the race. Keep an eye out for their Facebook event page for important race day details. Registration available with or without swag;
- Hosted by York Regional Police - 240 Prospect St at Tom Taylor Trail, Newmarket, ON - Hosted by York Regional Police. This event will feature a 5km race course. Registration is available with or without swag;
- Hosted by Tj Reid - Red Deer Trails - Start location at Cilantro & Chive 1927 50 Avenue Red Deer, AB - Hosted by Tj Reid. This event will feature a 5km race course. Registration is available with our without swag.
- Canine Heroes Kennel - 10046 Grey Road, Coldstream, BC - hosted by Canine Heroes Kennel. The event will feature a 5km race course. Check out their Facebook event page for important race day details. Registration is available with or without swag.
- Langley, BC- **Exact location TBD** Will be hosted at a public park in Langley. This event will feature a 5km race course. Registration available with or without swag.
VIRTUAL
- Virtual Event - Hosted by you wherever you are! Choose a swag bag registration or go swag free, the choice is yours. We encourage you to join us on socials for race day so we can bring the Ned's Wish community together nationwide!
2026 swag includes an exclusive t-shirt designed by Thiessens Tattoo, and a limited-edition PSD Bandit memorial challenge coin. We have limited quantities of each, so register early to secure yours! As always, you get your own fundraising link with your registration. Those raising $1000 or more will receive a special Ned's Wish hat as an additional thank you, and will be in competition for a highest fundraiser prize!
Individual registration with swag is $100.00. Registration with Swag includes all Race Roster processing and shipping. While registration without swag is $55.00. *If additional t-shirts and/or coins are added to orders WITHOUT swag, please email molly.p@nedswish.com to notify the quantity and to receive shipping cost.
Teams are encouraged -- challenge friends or colleagues to race or fundraise together! Remember, this event is inclusive and fun-focused: complete the 5km at your own pace, walking, running, or as a team effort. Leashed dogs are warmly welcomed at our in person events!
