The Community Exchange (TCE) is honoured to take on the leadership of Altona’s long‑standing community run/walk event for 2026. This transition follows the Curtis Klassen Memorial Fund’s decision to conclude its role as host of the annual CKMF 5K/10K Run & Walk to Remember. This year’s run will be freshly branded as Stride Together: Run & Walk for TCE.
Join us on May 9th, 2026 for a fun-filled race day with family-friendly activities following the run/walk as we celebrate TCE. Your participation in this race will help raise funds so we can continue working towards building a safer, healthier, and more connected community.

The overarching goal at The Community Exchange is to help shrink the gap between people who live on the margins and those who live more comfortably by creating relationships and facilitating meaningful connections. We believe that by engaging in this work of connection, we are helping to create a healthier, safer community for all. TCE is governed by a board of directors representing a diverse range of people in our community. TCE's vision is to create a community space that makes a positive difference in the everyday lives of people. We are a non-profit, non-religious organization guided by a strategic plan that includes three pillars: 1. Gathering around food; 2. Learning from and with each other; and 3. Providing a community hub. TCE provides a network of supports, resources, and services that are essential for learning, working, and living in Altona and the Municipality of Rhineland.
For nearly two decades, the CKMF Run & Walk to Remember was a cherished community gathering — bringing people together to honour Curtis, a friend who was tragically lost. The event aimed to celebrate wellness and raise funds that strengthened families and community initiatives in Altona. At TCE, we recognize the deep legacy of this event and the profound impact it has had through the efforts of the CKMF Committee and the many volunteers, sponsors, and participants who made it possible. Our hope is to see this tradition continued, while we shift the focus to raising funds for TCE.
Community members can still donate to the Curtis Klassen Memorial Fund through the Altona Community Foundation. Find out more, here: https://altonacommunityfoundation.com/funds/.
