Volunteer at the Tour de CROWN
Volunteer Information
Whether you're an avid bicyclist or passionate about supporting community events, we invite you to join our volunteer team! With a variety of ways to get involved and limited spots available, sign up today to be part of the Tour de CROWN.
Volunteer Opportunities
Ride Guide or Sweep – Lead the way or provide support along all three routes to ensure a smooth and safe journey for participants.
Rest-Stop Support – Create a welcoming space for riders to rest and refuel by distributing refreshments, offering encouragement, and fostering a positive atmosphere. Choose from three rest-stop locations.
Registration Table – Welcome participants, check them in, and distribute event materials.
Early Registration (Friday at Fifty West) – Help riders get checked in the day before event day. Volunteers will welcome participants, check them into the ride, and distribute event materials. One shift available: 4:00–7:00 PM.
Start Line Cheer Squad – Bring the energy as riders roll out! Cheer on participants, help create a fun and encouraging atmosphere, and celebrate the start of their ride. Shift: 7:30 AM–10:00 AM.
Finish Line Cheer Squad – Welcome riders back with excitement and encouragement as they complete their journey. Help create a memorable, celebratory finish-line experience. Shift: 12:00 PM–3:00 PM.
Crossing Guards – Support rider safety at select intersections by helping with flag crossings. Volunteers will be stationed at key points along the route and provided with high-visibility vests and flags. 3-hour shifts.
Event Photographer – Capture the energy and excitement of the Tour de CROWN.
Tour de CROWN Expo Support – Assist with setup by lifting and transporting items weighing up to 50 lbs, including 10x10 tents and boxes of materials, from the parking lot to the Expo area inside Fifty West’s biergarten.
Tri-State Trails & CROWN Merchandise Table – Help manage merchandise sales, answer questions, process transactions, and engage attendees in our mission during the Expo.
Route Wayfinding – Assist Tri-State Trails staff in marking the Tour de CROWN routes from August 17–27.
Route Clean-up – Help remove Tour de CROWN yard signs and route arrows from August 29–31.

How to Join

- Choose your preferred volunteer role(s).
- Provide the necessary details.
- Ride Guides and Sweeps – Select only one role (guide or sweep), one pace preference, and one route distance (34-mile, 17.5-mile, or 8.5-mile). Do not sign up for multiple ride leader positions.
- Receive a confirmation email with further instructions.
Key Volunteer Requirements
Age Requirement – All volunteers must be 18 or older.
Ride Guides and Sweeps
- Select only one role (guide or sweep), one pace preference, and one route distance (34-mile, 17.5-mile, or 8.5-mile). Do not sign up for multiple ride leader positions.
- Must have substantial experience leading or sweeping groups of at least 15 riders on trails and roads with traffic.
- Responsibilities include ensuring group safety, keeping riders together, and collectively addressing mechanical issues.
- Work closely with your ride partner to assess and manage challenges along the route.
- Bonus Skills – While not required, bicycle mechanical knowledge is highly valuable.
