Are you in Grades 7 to 12? Celebrate Victoria Day by participating in the School Triathlon at the Credit Union Place in Summerside! You will compete as an individual or in a relay to swim, bike and run for your school in one of 4 divisions. Will your school win the banners?
Registration and check in begins at 7:15 am and closes at 8:00 am. Athletes will receive their race markings and bib numbers. They will be directed to the transition zone to set up their bikes and run gear.
There is be a mandatory race briefing at 8:05 during which the rules, transitions procedures, bike and run routes will be discussed.

Swim: You will swim in groups of 12 with two swimmers per lane, no dive starts. Swim cap and goggles recommended. No floatation devices allowed, but swimmers can rest at the wall if necessary.
Bike: Your bike will be along a 3 km out and back route. You will do multiple loops depending on your division. You must wear a bike helmet, and your bike needs to be in good working order. No Ebikes.

Run: Your run will be along the sidewalks and the Confederation Trail. It is a flat, fast run to the finish line.

Cost: The PEI School Athletic Association will cover the cost of the event.

Bantam (Grade 7 and 8) Relay
This is a three person relay. You need a swimmer, cyclist and runner. Each member of the team must register under the same team name.
Intermediate Grade 9 Relay
This is a three person relay. You need a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner. Each member must register under the same team name
Juvenile Grade 10 Relay
This is a three person relay. You need a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner. Each member must register under the same team name
Senior Grade 11 and 12 Relay
This is a three person relay. Each team needs to have a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner. All team members must register under the same team name.
Bantam (Grade 7 and 8)
Swim 200 meters, Bike 6 km, Run 1.5 km 1.5 km
Intermediate (Grade 9)
Grade Nine Students: Swim: 250 m, Bike 9 km, Run 3km
Juvenile (Grade 10)
Grade 10 Students: Swim: 250m, Bike 9 km, Run 3 km
Senior (Grade 11 and 12)
Grade 11 and 12 Students Swim: 300 m Bike: 9 km Run 3 km
Teacher Division
Teachers can register but must have a Triathlon PEI Day or Full membership.
Race Day Information for Athletes and Coaches
Race day information for coaches and athletes.
Check in: 7:15 to 7:50 am: No bikes inside please. Please leave plenty of time to check in, change and set up your bike.
1. All athletes need to register in the lobby of the Credit Union place by 7:50
2. Athletes will receive their race number, which must be brought to the transition area, then back to change room. Do not lose or forget your bib number.
3. They are to bring their race number bib, bikes and helmets to the transition area outside.
4. Bikes and helmets will be checked, and athletes will then place bikes on their assigned racks. Helmets must stay with the bike.
5. Athletes can then go back inside to get organized and ready for the swim. Their change of clothing for bike/run can be laid out in the locker room. The race bib number remains with their change of clothing.
Race numbers are to be worn OVER their clothing for the entire bike and run sections. These are very comfortable and stretchy. Athletes MUST turn in their race numbers after they cross the finish line.
Race briefing: All athletes and coaches must attend the briefing at 8:10 am. This will take place in the bleachers in the pool area. Athletes requiring an inhaler or an EPIPEN should carry it with them on the bike and run. Our first aid team will be stationed in the transition area but can travel to assist if necessary.
*Race start times may be adjusted depending on the number of waves. Lane assignments will be available at registration and will be emailed to coaches before the event.
Race order: Bantam, Intermediate, Juvenile Senior.
Divisions may be combined depending on numbers.

Final time will be recorded when they cross the finish line after completing the run. Individual Swim/Bike/run times will not be available.
Assure your athletes that there are volunteers and officials on all sections of the bike and run routes. There are signs and arrows to direct them. We want to make this an enjoyable event.
Water will be available in the transition area. They can have their own water bottles on their bikes and run.
The bike distances may be shortened due to weather. This will be announced at the race briefing.
Parents and spectators are welcome but need to stay on the sidelines of the bike/run course and cannot give any help to their athlete. (ie: water, a jacket etc) They cannot be in the transition area. They can watch the swim from the bleachers on the pool deck.
Awards will follow as soon as finish times are calculated. Dress for the weather!
