May 9 from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm at the Credit Union place in Summerside, PEI on Saturday. The clinic will be led by our Provincial Coach, Jennifer Hawrylak.
Race Details:
Registration and check in begins at 6:00 am and closes at 7:00 am. Athletes will receive their race markings and bib numbers. They will be directed to the transition zone to set up their bikes and run gear. Please be on time as it will take about 20 minutes to get yourselves organized.
There is be a mandatory race briefing at 7:05 during which the rules, transitions procedures, bike and run routes will be discussed. The first swimmers will enter the water at 7:15.

Swim: You will swim in groups of 12 with two swimmers per lane, no dive starts. Swim cap and goggles recommended. No floatation devices allowed, but swimmers can rest at the wall if necessary.
Bike: Your bike will be along a 3 km loop. You will do multiple loops depending on your division. You must wear a bike helmet, and your bike needs to be in good working order. No Ebikes. Volunteers will be on the route to direct you.

Run: Your run will be along the sidewalks and the Confederation Trail. It is a flat, fast run to the finish line. Volunteers will be on the route to keep you going in the right direction

Cost: The PEI School Athletic Association will cover the cost of the event.

Bantam (Grade 7 and 8) Relay
This is a three person relay. You need a swimmer, cyclist and runner. Each member of the team must register under the same team name.
Intermediate Grade 9 Relay
This is a three person relay. You need a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner. Each member must register under the same team name
Juvenile Grade 10 Relay
This is a three person relay. You need a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner. Each member must register under the same team name
Senior Grade 11 and 12 Relay
This is a three person relay. Each team needs to have a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner. All team members must register under the same team name.
Bantam (Grade 7 and 8)
Swim 200 meters, Bike 6 km, Run 1.5 km 1.5 km
Intermediate (Grade 9)
Grade Nine Students: Swim: 250 m, Bike 9 km, Run 3km
Juvenile (Grade 10)
Grade 10 Students: Swim: 250m, Bike 9 km, Run 3 km
Senior (Grade 11 and 12)
Grade 11 and 12 Students Swim: 300 m Bike: 9 km Run 3 km
Teacher Division
Teachers can register but must have a Triathlon PEI Day or Full membership.
Race Day Information for Athletes and Coaches
Race day information for coaches and athletes.
Check in: 7:15 to 7:50 am: No bikes inside please. Please leave plenty of time to check in, change and set up your bike.
1. All athletes need to register in the lobby of the Credit Union place by 7:50
2. Athletes will receive their race number, which must be brought to the transition area, then back to change room. Do not lose or forget your bib number.
3. They are to bring their race number bib, bikes and helmets to the transition area outside.
4. Bikes and helmets will be checked, and athletes will then place bikes on their assigned racks. Helmets must stay with the bike.
5. Athletes can then go back inside to get organized and ready for the swim. Their change of clothing for bike/run can be laid out in the locker room. The race bib number remains with their change of clothing.
Race numbers are to be worn OVER their clothing for the entire bike and run sections. These are very comfortable and stretchy. Athletes MUST turn in their race numbers after they cross the finish line.
Race briefing: All athletes and coaches must attend the briefing at 8:10 am. This will take place in the bleachers in the pool area. Athletes requiring an inhaler or an EPIPEN should carry it with them on the bike and run. Our first aid team will be stationed in the transition area but can travel to assist if necessary.
*Race start times may be adjusted depending on the number of waves. Lane assignments will be available at registration and will be emailed to coaches before the event.
Race order: Bantam, Intermediate, Juvenile Senior.
Divisions may be combined depending on numbers.
Wave One: 8:30 Wave Two: 8:50 Wave Three: 9:05 Wave Four: 9:25 Wave Five: 9: 4
Final time will be recorded when they cross the finish line after completing the run. Individual Swim/Bike/run times will not be available.
Assure your athletes that there are volunteers and officials on all sections of the bike and run routes. There are signs and arrows to direct them. We want to make this an enjoyable event.
Water will be available in the transition area. They can have their own water bottles on their bikes and run.
The bike distances may be shortened due to weather. This will be announced at the race briefing.
Parents and spectators are welcome but need to stay on the sidelines of the bike/run course and cannot give any help to their athlete. (ie: water, a jacket etc) They cannot be in the transition area. They can watch the swim from the bleachers on the pool deck.
Awards will follow as soon as finish times are calculated. Dress for the weather!
Race Day Information
Schedule: It is very important you give yourself plenty of time to get checked in and set up. It will be busy.
6:00 am to 7:00 am – Check in, bib number pick up, bike into transition area, change and onto pool deck. Volunteers will direct you to your assigned bike area
7:05 – 7:15 – Race briefing on pool deck and group pictures.
7:15 – Event Begins
Order of stars: Senior, Juvenile, Intermediate, Bantam.
Relay teams will begin with their division.
You must be ready for your swim start time 15 minutes prior to your assigned time. For example: If your swim time is 8:30, you must be on deck ready to swim at 8:15. You will have a maximum of 15 minutes to complete the swim. We will start waves early if possible.
11:00 Awards – may start earlier.
Things to remember:
- Swim – swim caps and goggles are recommended. A volunteer will count your laps and let you know when you are finished. All you need to do is SWIM.
- You must walk inside the building – you can run to transition once you exit through the doors.
- You must put your race number on over your clothing – do this before you leave the change room. Your number must be turned in as soon as you cross the finish line. A volunteer will be collecting.
- You must put your bike helmet on before you take your bike off the rack. Keep your helmet on until your bike is back on the rack. Volunteers will remind you.
- Know your bike and run routes. Volunteers will direct you but try to remember how many laps you do. Bantam – 2 laps of the bike, 1 lap of the run. All others – 3 laps of the bike, 2 laps of the run.
- In some sections, there may be cross over between bikers and runners. Bikers have priority – runners must stop and let them pass.
- Volunteers will be out on the course to control traffic, but please watch for cars and pedestrians.
- Inhalers and EpiPens should be with you. Use a small pouch.
- HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THIS EVENT.

- Exit transition and turn RIGHT onto Notre Dame Street
- Turn right at intersection of Notre Dame and Greenwood
- Proceed up to Confederation trail – turn right onto trail
- Continue on the Trail – cross Willow street onto Northumberland Street
- Turn right onto Notre Dame – repeat using lap lane, there will be a finish lane.
Note: There will be volunteers at each turn/intersection. They will record numbers.
Run: In Yellow – Bantam – 1.5 km x1 All others: 1.5km x 2
- Exit transition and turn LEFT onto Notre Dame
- Go LEFT onto Northumberland until reaching Confederation trail
- Go right/slight u onto Trail.
- Cross Myrtle street, remain on Trail until Notre Dame
- Turn right onto Notre Dame – if lapping – turn back onto Northumberland – if finishing – straight to finish chute.
Note: There will be volunteers at each turn/intersection/crossing and lapping area.
