My journey with CASA started many years ago, back when they were operating out of the basement of a school.

At the time, I was a young person heading down a difficult path, and my mom was desperately worried about her child. Like so many families facing mental health challenges, she didn't know where to turn and struggled to find the resources and support we needed.

Someone pointed her to an organization called CASA.

Through CASA, I received much-needed help and was given tools that quite literally helped keep me alive. More importantly, those tools allowed me to move beyond simply surviving and eventually thrive.

That experience changed the trajectory of my life.

Today, I have the privilege of serving as a Director on CASA's Board, and through that role I've been able to see firsthand the incredible impact this organization continues to have on children, youth, and families across Alberta. CASA Mental Health provides holistic, culturally safe, wrap-around mental health services to Albertans under the age of 18 and their families, delivering support that is often life-changing and, in some cases, life-saving.

As someone who has benefited directly from CASA's care, and as a parent raising a family of children who have each faced their own mental health challenges, I understand just how vital these services are.

To help raise awareness and support for CASA's mission, I'm taking on a challenge: As many laps up and down Rabbit Hill as I can manage. I may not reach the end goal on 90 laps and 67.5km, but I'm going to start, face the hurt, and keep climbing for as long as I can.
