Join us on Saturday, September 12, 2026 for the 4th annual Loonie Loops - New Brunswick's first (and only) 24hrs trail party! Whether you're a runner, a hiker, fast or slow - it does not matter. Everyone is welcome to join in on this trail party! This style is not so much about who gets the most laps (although there will still be a top 3 in each category), it's more about personal goals, pushing yourself beyond what you thought was capable, and smashing that PR gong. You decide when you want a break, you decide when it's over, and you decide what pace. With an aid station every 3kms, you are in full control of your destiny! In 2024 we were very fortunate to award our first ever buckle to Cody Cooper for running an impressive 100 miles in less than 24hrs! Is this your year?
Choose your own adventure: 6hrs, 12hrs, and 24hrs
The trail, which is entirely on private land, is a 3km loop around Ashburn Lake in Saint John, N.B. The loop has 90 meters (295ft) of climbing/descending per lap on moderately technical trail. Most of the climbing happens on one small hill that takes you up to a lookout and features a great view of Ashburn Lake and Loon Island. It is an absolute gem of a trail, one that is worthy of spending 24hrs on. See pricing options below.
More details, including route information, can be found on our website:
This year, we want to hear some more friendly banter being thrown around in downtown Loonie Loops, so we thought a team option for 2026 would be fun!
Here's how it will work...
To register for "Three is Key", your team is made up of 3 runners (Gender mix does not matter!).
- 1 runner in the 6hrs.
- 1 runner in the 12hrs
- 1 runner in the 24hrs
Each runner signs up individually and runs their own race. At the end of the 24hrs, we will add your team laps together to determine your team total. The top two teams will take home something from SJTR.
Have a team?
- Pick a team captain - This person will create the team name during registration.
- The next two people can register on their own, and join the team during registration.
Don't have a team yet?
That's ok, you can join/create a team at anytime.
Let us know if any issues arise during registration.
Participants and crew are welcome to camp and/or setup their personal "aid station" the night before at a cost of $10 per participant (Crew is welcome to stay for free). 100% of the camping/setup funds go back to the YMCA Strong Communities Fund! We would prefer that you add the "camping" option during registration, but if you can't commit now, you can purchase from the store at any time before registration closes. Simply access the "store" at the top right, and purchase camping. There are no assigned sites, but lots of space. First come, first serve on your location of choice. Please note that there are no shower facilities on-site.
